The incentives on leftover 2015 KLR650's is almost too good to pass up. I can buy a brand new bike with 0 kms on it for $6,500 cad (~$5,000 USD) out the door.
I listed my bike for sale last night and already first thing this morning I’ve got some real solid offers on it that would net me a $1,000 profit.
If the deal on my bike goes thru I’ll be picking one of these up this week. I’d be getting the Ebony/Raw Graystone like pictured above.

Solid pick on a nice bike that would last you a long time! Good luck!

hot damn, thats cheap. Almost makes me want a KLR (almost).
(not that the KLR is awful, it’s just not my cup of tea, and a little too tall for for my short inseam, hell the (shorter by three-inches) F650 is a LITTLE too tall for me)

I’m 5'4" with a 26" inseam. There is ways to make it fit.
Seat concepts makes an awesome seat that lowers the seat 1.5". you could also add lowering links to get another 1.5" drop. you’d end up with around a 32"-32.5" seat height which is inline with most non cruisers on the market.

true, but there’s still the Doohicky...

(I’d probably be riding a KLR if I hadn’t gotten such a good deal on my F650... but I really do like the F650 better.)

That’s exactly why I chose it. super simple and durable. it’s been around pretty much unchanged since 1987 so they’ve got it pretty much sorted out. I also live right next to a bunch of light trails that would be fun to explore on this bike.
Also the low cruising RPM is another thing that drew me to this bike.
My current bike cruises at 5,800 rpm @ 62mph. Where this would be more like 3,900-4,000 @ 62mph

The Doohicky supposedly has been revised for 2014. So that’s one less thing to worry about.

just remember....
pick up a 2nd set of wheels so you can have touring tire and knobbies :D
KLR’s are a FANTASTIC bike, if not for me. Have fun with it!

I’f anything I’d probably put knobby’s on these and have a set of 17" sumo’s for street riding.
But this would be down the road. Gotta get the bike first before worrying about that.

I think that KLRs are the steal of the century, and have been for a while. They are nothing fancy, but are good enough at just about everything besides a motocross track. Not to mention their longevity after your purchase.
That price is what people pay for mid-level mountain bikes, that you have to pedal, but you can get a brand new motorcycle from Japan, with a freaking engine. Pure craziness. Do it.

I agree. For the money it’s pretty hard to pass up. it’s all banking on selling my bike quick. As soon as I sell mine I’ll most likely pick one of these up.

The aftermarket and forum support for KLR’s is legendary. They’ve been ridden to some of the most remote places in the world. If it breaks, someone will know how to fix it.

This and the DR650 are on my short list for a cross country trip I’m planning this year, and that’s one hell of a price!

I prefer the KLR because it has a functional fairing. The DR650 would make it a long trip with no fairing.
The first mod I would do on the KLR is instal a KLR DASH. to give it that rally bike look and also provide a great spot for a GPS.

Will that have enough power for you? They are slow as maple syrup

Cool! That dash makes the blank space super functional

My current bike has 68hp at 9500 rpm and 37ft-lb @ 9,000 but I don’t think I’ve ever got the revs past 7,000. so if anything I’ve only ever used 50 ish hp on my bike.
these have 44hp and 44ft-lb. so it has way more torque than what I have and for the type of riding I do, torque is more useful than flat out power.
It won’t be fast but it will definitely be adequate.

I had an 07 KLR for a while. Outstanding bikes! Beware of the stock tires they throw on there if you are doing any trail riding. Otherwise, Have fun!!!

I would love to have an excuse to have a bike like this, but I just don’t see much off roading available where I live, or at least, not much that a regular street bike can’t handle.

As for me its the complete opposite. Literally in my backyard is a recreational park which is all crown land with miles and miles of offroad fun which is completely legal to ride.

Oh man, that sounds so awesome. Living in the center of well populated New England, I can only dream of such things.
